Benefits to Drinking Lemon Water

My new morning ritual...to drink a glass of warm lemon water. I stand at the sink, squeeze half a lemon into a glass of luke warm filtered water and guzzle it down before I start the day. I keep seeing posts on facebook (you can follow me there) about drinking lemon water so I had to see what all the fuss is about.

From what I have read, it is a great quick source of Vitamin C, it balances your pH levels, boosts the immune system, aids in weight loss, improves digestion, clears skin, freshens breath, and kick-starts energy and mood. Yes please to it all! How could I not give this a try!?!

Lemon is one of the most alkaline foods around. It is important to have a balance between the alkaline and acidic levels in our body. An acidic pH state breeds disease, but drinking lemon water regularly can help remove acidity from the body. You wouldn't think so, because lemons are acidic on their own, but once inside the body they are alkaline.

That alkaline nature also kills some types of bacteria known to cause acne. Learning that was enough to make me start chugging the stuff. I still get the occasional blemish now and then (I thought we were supposed to grow out of that!), but since I have added lemon water into my routine, my skin has been clear and even seems to have a new glow to it.

A whiff of lemon juice in the morning lifts my spirits and is a great way to start the day. I am definitely going to continue reaping the benefits of this lovely morning drink.
